Dupli's Sustainability Promise
Green – the new corporate colour of Dupli, a symbol of our commitment to environmental sustainability. Representing our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and positively affecting climate change throughout our business operations.
In modern times, we are aware that all of us, businesses and individuals, have a responsibility to do what we can to reduce our carbon footprint and strive to positively affect climate change.
We also know that doing so in the print business can be challenging, particularly when the main component of our industry's output is paper-based. But at Dupli, we enjoy a challenge.
When the perceived reality is that we cannot change things dramatically, we must do whatever we can, whenever we can. Small changes grow to have significant effects when combined, so that's exactly what we've tried to implement with our recent initiatives.
Spectrajet Dry Lab Media Packaging Goes Plastic-Free
As you may know, Spectrajet Ink Jet Paper is a brand wholly owned by Dupli Ltd. As such, this is one of the key areas we could influence regarding improving the green credentials of the packaging used in its transport and delivery, starting with our Dry Lab media products.
This significant achievement is a testament to our dedication to environmental sustainability. All three key packaging components of our Spectrajet paper are now plastic-free, a milestone we are proud of and hope you will support.
Paper Banderole
The banderole protects the paper roll from dirt, scratches, and stains during transportation, unboxing, and installation. Previously, these were manufactured from polyethene. Our new packaging uses 100% recyclable paper. Saving is a total of 29.4 grams* of plastic per package.
For a twin pack of 6" x 65m paper, when the other elements of each package, including the outer box, closing tape, etc., are taken into account, the total plastic eliminated per package is almost 200g!
We hope you'll agree this is a phenomenal saving per package and a significant first step towards change.
Moulded Pulp Plug
Traditionally a plastic component, our new moulded paper plugs are custom-made and have been rigorously tested under extreme conditions, ensuring their quality and performance.
A saving of 88.4 grams* of plastic compared to the hard-pressed PE plugs used previously.
Paper Wrapping
Our new paper wrapping replaces a plastic bag while delivering the same protection and resistance to external influences.
Made from 100% recyclable paper, eliminating 35.8 grams* of plastic per pack.
If you'd like to know how much plastic you could save by switching to Spectrajet Dry Lab paper, just let us know; we'd be glad to reveal the details.
Woodland Trust Carbon Capture Programme
Another initiative Dupli has established is an association with the Woodland Trust, who work with green-minded businesses to offset their carbon footprint via the Carbon Capture programme.
What is Carbon Capture, and how does it work?
The Woodland Trust Carbon Capture® is a unique, market-leading, high-impact, low-cost environmental initiative that creates new native woodland in the UK. In partnership with the Woodland Trust, the UK's leading woodland conservation charity, it offers organisations the opportunity to capture the CO₂ emissions from their material purchases, providing a reduced-carbon solution. This initiative allows us to offset our carbon footprint by planting trees in native woodlands across the UK, thereby contributing to the fight against climate change.
It works by aggregating the amount of paper, cardboard, and associated wood-based products purchased by a company each quarter and converting that into a quantified number of trees planted in native woodlands across the UK to offset the amount of carbon used in producing and supplying paper products.
The Woodland Trust creates, enlarges, and restores native woodlands, creating havens for wildlife and people by planting millions of trees each year. This inspiring initiative gives us hope for a greener future.
We joined the initiative in 2023, and in this first year of membership, together with our consumer-facing branch, Paper Spectrum, we have planted over 1.35 hectares of woodland and captured over 400 tonnes of CO2.
New initiatives implemented across Dupli packaging
Working with suppliers to implement greener initiatives is just one aspect of our commitment to positively affecting change. Much closer to home, we are challenging our in-house processes to improve our carbon footprint.
Down in the warehouse, we are now sourcing our Dupli-branded boxes from like-minded suppliers committed to the Woodland Trust Carbon Capture programme.
With the aid of our trusty Profipack P425 shredder, we now recycle and reuse all of the cardboard that enters the building in our shipments to you. We've also ditched traditional brown adhesive tape products, which, due to their high polypropylene content, are, in most cases, impossible to recycle, in favour of water-activated, gummed tape.
Our in-house recycling adds steps to our packaging process. Still, it has been welcomed and happily adopted by our warehouse and logistics team, who recognise the importance of such initiatives and the benefits they bring.
