The origins of the company we recognise as Epson date back over 80 years to the shores of Lake Suwa, just over 100 miles west of Tokyo on Japan’s south island. The expansion of Seiko Epson into a creator of printing technology had its roots in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, where Seiko was the official timekeepers. With a brand vision built on an “if it doesn’t exist, we must invent it” mentality, a printing timer was developed, and the seeds of the future were sown.
Continuous development followed with the Epson brand being born in 1975 and soon after the Epson Piezo printhead was launched. Epson’s Micro Piezo printheads lie at the heart of all Epson inkjet printers. Allied to their proprietary high tech ink sets, this unique technology is the driving force behind all of Epson’s print solutions.
