JOBO 1500 vs 2500

If you've ever stepped into a darkroom, chances are you've encountered the name JOBO. And if you haven't, you're in for a treat.

For over 100 years, JOBO has been a renowned supplier of darkroom and film processing equipment, founded in 1923 in Gummersbach, Germany. Known for producing high-quality, innovative film processors for the analogue photography industry, JOBO remains the only company to still produce tabletop film processors that are suitable for both home developing and professional photo lab environments.

But did you know that JOBO's legacy isn't just confined to Earth? Back in 1969, JOBO’s equipment was used to develop the very first photos from the Apollo 11 moon landing mission, still in use by photographers worldwide today - a pretty big deal if you ask us!

From beginners to well-versed professionals, JOBO’s equipment offers precise film development for everyone. So, what's better, the 1500 or the 2500 tank series? Let's compare.

The 1500 Series

The JOBO 1500 Series is built for simplicity. Crafted with chemical-resistant plastic used for both inversion and rotary processing, the 1500 tank series is ideal for home processing and capable of processing all types of 35mm and 120 roll film. This clever modular system is made up of 4 elements: 1510 35mm Tank, 1520 Uni Tank, 1530 Expansion Tank, and the 1540 Multi Tank. Each tank is crafted to hold different volumes of 35mm and 120 roll film. Whether your inversion or rotary processing, with the right accessories, you can develop your film in a way that suits you.

Key Features:

  • Modularity: Start with the JOBO 1510 Tank for a single roll of 35mm film and expand with the 1530 Extension Module or 1540 MultiTank for increased capacity.

  • Efficiency: The 1520 UniTank can process up to two rolls of 35mm or two rolls back to back of 120 film, making it ideal for small batches.

  • Leak-Proof Design: The tanks feature a flexible, leak-proof lid, ensuring mess-free inversion processing.

The 2500 Series

Designed for professional photo lab environments, our JOBO 2500 series supports both inversion and rotary processing; however, it is predominantly used in the world of rotary processing with a JOBO film processor. The 2500 modular system is made up of 3 main tanks: 2520 MultiTank 2, 2540 MultiTank 1, and the 2550 MultiTank 5, all compatible with the 2502 reels. Each tank holds a specific number of reels, from 35mm to 120 roll film, all the way up to sheet film, making it a versatile and efficient choice for professional darkroom setups.

Highlights:

  • Versatility: The 2520 MultiTank 2 can process two rolls of 35mm or 120 film, or up to six sheets of 4x5 film with the 2509N film reel.

  • Capacity: The 2550 MultiTank 5 handles up to five rolls of 35mm, six rolls of 120 film, or 12 sheets of 4x5 film, making it ideal for larger batches.

  • Compatibility: Designed to work seamlessly with JOBO processors like CPE3 or CPP3, ensuring consistent results every time.
